The Casa Lina, also simply called Calina, was built in 1960 along with the observatory by Frau Lina Senn, and played host to many-a stargazer. Today the Calina is a modern guest house with several holiday apartments (especially suited to families with children), various double rooms and a kitchen for guest's use.

The guest house is set in a quiet and sunny spot. With its large garden it is a wonderful place for individualists, ramblers, mountain bikers, families with children, groups and associations to recover, relax, play sports or games and have fun. Enjoy the southern ambience and laze around to your heart's content on the sun-loungers or in the shade of a parasol. Games equipment and sufficient place guarantee that everyone, especially our smaller guests, will not get bored.

In the covered pergola there's also a grill so that our guests can organise and hold their own barbecues.

Our holiday apartments are equipped with their own bath/shower and a complete kitchen. From each apartment's own sun-terrace our guests can enjoy a fabulous view of the Lake of Lugano.

All double rooms have their own garden or terrace seating area. The spacious common room and the fully equipped communal kitchen are available for use to all of our guests. The Calina can also be completely booked for private functions, such as family occasions, seminars, hiking parties etc.

There are countless possibilities in and around Carona to put together as varied a holiday as you wish: from the hiking routes winding through chestnut-tree woods, the botanical gardens of «San Grato» with enchanting rhododendrons and azaleas, to the popular public swimming pool or the superb biking trails...

Enjoy all that and still be within a stone's throw of the centre of Lugano town. In only 10 minutes by car, you can experience the town with its museums, shops and bars. Carona is easily reached by Post Bus or make it a stop-over on your hiking trip.
